Curtis Walcott

Curtis Walcott grew up in the Harlem neighborhood of Manhattan. He was first sent to Rikers as a 17-year-old. Before he arrived at Rikers, Walcott affiliated with the Crips gang. His family and friends visited him while he was incarcerated at Rikers. He discusses the stressful nature of the Rikers visitation process for loved ones, who face a long commute to the island, a lack of public transportation options, and invasive search procedures.
